Kathryn Sheridan (1976) is CEO of communications and PR agency, Sustainability Consult. She is the World Bioeconomy Association Ambassador to the EU and the UK.
She works on credible communications and PR, EU policy issues and stakeholder engagement for bioeconomy industry leaders globally, building their visibility and credibility.
Kathryn is a subject matter expert on the bioeconomy having worked with corporate clients, startups and organisations in the global bioeconomy since setting up Sustainability Consult in 2008.
Former EU environment and energy journalist (Platts, Environment Watch Europe, Euro-Impact, British Medical Journal), Kathryn speaks, writes and moderates on the bioeconomy, including at major industry conferences worldwide.
In addition to her early career as an environment journalist, in 2005 and 2006, Kathryn worked as a freelance rapporteur to the European Commission, reporting on high-level EU meetings including the EU-China Seminar on Human Rights in London and Vienna, the ASEM Summit on Energy Efficiency in Tokyo, the EU-Asia Seminar in Bangkok, the Eastern European Funding Seminar, Brussels and Burma Day, Brussels. At these events, she was responsible for notetaking on the day and producing the report after the event.
Kathryn’s 2016 TEDx talk ‘Bioplastic Fantastic: why we don’t need oil for plastics’ has had over 23,000 views on YouTube.
Kathryn was Ambassador for 1% for the Planet in Europe for 8 years (2013-2020). She founded Green Drinks Brussels (2013-2022). She is a Trustee of Tariki Trust in the UK (2024-) and a Board member of her local nature conservation group Natuurpunt (2018-). After growing up in the UK, Kathryn has spent 25 years around the EU policy space in Brussels. She has dual UK/Belgian.
