The World BioeEconomy Association is delighted to share pertinent studies on the bioeconomy, aiming to enhance the overall understanding of this multifaceted field. Many of these studies are publicly accessible, freely available to all interested parties.
However, certain studies may require a fee for downloading, reflecting the costs associated with their production and distribution. This approach allows us to provide valuable information to a broad audience while sustaining the production of high-quality and in-depth studies through the support of those who require more extensive access.
If you wish to showcase your study or survey on this page, kindly submit your proposal to info@bioeconomyassociation.org.
We welcome and encourage contributions that align with our objectives, and our team will carefully review each proposal for potential inclusion. Thank you for your interest in contributing to the collective knowledge within the bioeconomy community.
The report "Financing a Sustainable Global Bioeconomy" provides a comprehensive analysis of how finance can be leveraged to support the development of a sustainable, equitable, and low-carbon global bioeconomy. Authored by the World BioEconomy Forum and NatureFinance, it highlights the crucial role of the bioeconomy in driving sustainable development, aligning with climate and biodiversity goals, and promoting social equity. The report builds on the G20 Initiative on Bioeconomy, led by Brazil, and emphasises the need for innovative financial mechanisms, international collaboration, and coherent policy frameworks to unlock the full potential of the bioeconomy. It serves as a call to action for governments, financial institutions, and the private sector to work together in advancing a bioeconomy that is both environmentally and economically sustainable.
This paper has been prepared by FAO to inform the current discussions on bioeconomy including in the G20 Initiative on Bioeconomy (GIB). It focuses specifically on how bioeconomy can ensure food security and nutrition and, at the same time, on the need to transform agrifood systems to advance the sustainable development of the bioeconomy.Global coordination and cooperation are an integral part of sustainable bioeconomy development. There is a need to implement agreed principles, criteria and monitoring systems that jointly address all dimensions of sustainability, to balance the trade-offs that can lead to the unsustainable implementation of the bioeconomy. Multilateral institutions have an important role to play in tailoring these sustainable bioeconomy tools and guidelines in different contexts globally, while providing a neutral platform where all countries and stakeholders have a central role in shaping the future bioeconomy. In this context the paper also contributes to the discussions around a set of High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy at the GIB. It presents an overview of FAO’s work on bioeconomy, resources and networks, and provides lessons learned and recommendations for both G20 Members and globally.

The bioeconomy is growing worldwide and benefits nearly every sector of the economy. Its continued growth is critical for sustainable development in all nations of the world. The forest sector is currently one of the major contributors to the bioeconomy through traditional products such as wood products, paper and a large array of emerging bioproducts associated with biorefinery concepts. While forest-based biorefineries are increasingly producing more advanced biofuels, a wide variety of biochemicals and biomaterials around the world, there has never been a well-structured database of the current facilities and production details.
For the first time ever the World BioEconomy Forum is providing you a digital platform on browsing biorefineries and emerging bioproducts in Europe (EU27 + UK, Norway, Switzerland).
With the Biorefinery Map™ subscription you’ll be kept updated comprehensively on the status of the sector.
With the Biorerinery Advisory™ you’ll get advisory services to navigate in the field of biorefineries and bioproducts
