Sofie Carsten Nielsen has been the Director of the European Biosolutions Coalition, a Coalition of nationwide Industry organizations coming together to promote the biosolutions industry in Europe since it was founded in May 2023. 13 industry organizations from 13 European countries are members of EBC so far. Sofie is also the Director of DI Biosolutions, the industry community for biosolutions within Danish Industry, one of the founders of the EBC. The EBC Secretariat is hosted by Danish Industry.
Before working with the biosolutions industry, Sofie spent more than 10 years in Danish politics some of them as party leader for the Danish Social-Liberal Party. She is also a former Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation in Denmark. Before going into politics, she was head of the policy department at the Danish Engineers association, and she has also worked as a consultant in the European Parliament in Brussels. Sofie is a political scientist by training from Copenhagen University and has a Master of European Politics and Administration from the College of Europe in Bruges.
