Since 1 October 2025, Jens Lundsgaard has been the Director for Global Presence of the Novo Nordisk Foundation. During his career, he has worked extensively on the interplay of science, innovation, finance and competitiveness with a particular interest in the bioeconomy and the green transition. From 2011 to 2017, he served as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Business and Growth in Denmark, leading the preparation of reforms to promote innovation and sustainable growth in sectors such as energy, water, food, life science and urban economics. Later, he served as a resident member of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, UK. While being a board member, he was also a regular economic commentator in Danish and international media. Most recently, from 2022 to 2025, he has served as Deputy Director of the OECD’s Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). A Danish national, Jens holds an Economics Degree from the University of Aarhus in Denmark.
